The Amherst Bear is a nonprofit, printed monthly community newspaper that celebrates our town, connects our neighbors, and strengthens community pride. Each issue is mailed for free to every Amherst home & business, sharing reliable local news, uplifting stories, and practical resources for residents of all ages.
The Amherst Bear offers a trusted, positive space focused on the people, events, issues, and stories that make Amherst a truly special place to live. Together, we’re building a community newspaper that keeps Amherst informed, connected, and proud of its local story.
It is our plan to start fundraising during the fall, finish hiring staff, and work toward our first issue by early 2026. It has been an education for all of us working on this paper, and we look forward to seeing it in print.
