Help Your Hometown Newspaper! Volunteer With Us!

​ It takes a strong community to build and nurture an informative, engaging, and truly connected newspaper. That's why we need your help to make The Amherst Bear a reality -- by making a donation, by supporting our advertising businesses, and by volunteering to help produce our monthly paper.

Here are some of the ways you can help:

  • Work on general editorial tasks (proofreading, story suggestions, etc.) â€‹

  • Help with the monthly counting and sorting of the issues before they are mailed

  • Deliver extra monthly issues to assigned locations around town (post office, library, etc.)

  • Use your prior experience as a writer/columnist, photographer, or correspondent​​

Souhegan High School Sports Teams Columnist (Volunteer)

Do you enjoy following the local high school athletic teams? We are looking for someone who enjoys writing to give a monthly update on the teams each season. â€‹

  • Required Skills:​

    • Exceptional writing capabilities with a sports flair​

    • Work with Athletic Director & coaches to get their updates and interesting quotes​​

Senior Living Columnist (Volunteer)

Do you enjoy writing and have a keen interest in senior activities and lifestyles? We are seeking a mature and compassionate storyteller to write a monthly column covering senior-related happenings in and around Amherst, as well as sharing inspiring stories about seniors exploring exciting new hobbies or sharing fascinating life experiences.​​

  • Required Skills:​

    • Exceptional writing and storytelling capabilities​

    • Sensitivity and empathy toward senior-related topics​​
